All you need to do is request the necessary application

Did you know there is a child support agency in every county

Did you know that there are even child support agencies in some
foreign countries?
Often you can receive more complete enforcement and collection services
by opening a case in the county and state in which you reside or
in which the other parent resides. If you would like to know more

The application package for opening a child support case will
ask you to provide as much of the following information as possible:
- Full legal name and address of the parent who is obligated
to pay.
- Date of birth and physical description of the non-custodial
parent. (Photographs are very helpful.)
- Social Security number of the non-custodial parent.
- Birth certificate of each child.
- A copy of any marriage license.
- A copy of any divorce decree or separation agreement.
- Name and address of the current or most recent employer of the
non-custodial parent.
- Names and addresses of friends or relatives of the non-custodial
parent.
- Information relating to income and other assets of the non-custodial
parent.
Remember, the more information you provide, the easier it is for
us to collect child support for you.
If you are eligible for public assistance or Temporary Assistance
for Needy Families (TANF),
your case will be automatically referred to the Child Support Services
Department.
All children have the right to be supported by both parents. Any
person, including a noncustodial parent, whether or not he or she
receives public assistance, can apply for support services. Some
of the available services are as follows:
- Locating the parent(s) for support enforcement purposes.
- Establishing paternity.
- Establishing a child support order.
- Establishing a medical support order.
- Modifying an existing court order for child support.
- Modifying an existing court order for medical support.
- Enforcing a spousal support order when child support is owed.
- Collecting and distributing support payments.
The Child Support Services Department provides
services on behalf of the State of California. When you request
these services, you must cooperate with the Child Support Services
Department by providing any information or documents needed to establish
paternity, to locate the parent and get support payments for the
child. There is no charge to you for the child support services. |
