Child Support Payments

We strive to make sure that payments made by the Person Paying Support (PPS) and owed to the Person Receiving Support (PRS) are delivered in a timely manner. To assist PRSs, the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) provides the following options for receiving support payments:

The Paper Check Reduction Project began Tuesday, October 13, 2020.  Persons Receiving Support (PRS) will be notified that California is moving to paperless payments.

After notification, PRS will have 21 days to enroll in direct deposit or they will automatically be switched to an Electronic Payment Card (EPC) for child support payments.

Direct Deposit

You can have the payments automatically deposited into a checking or savings account. There are several ways to enroll:

  • You can enroll online at SDU Direct Deposit Login. You will need to provide your social security number and your participant identification number.
  • You can enroll by telephone. You may call the SDU at (866) 901-3212, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. You will need to provide your social security number and your participant identification number.
  • You can enroll by mail by completing a Direct Deposit Authorization Form and mailing it to the SDU at:

Electronic Payment Card (EPC)

You receive a Mastercard branded card that works like a debit card. You can receive support payments easier, faster and have access to the funds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The card can be used everywhere Mastercard is accepted. Some fees may be associated with the Electronic Payment Card.

  • You can enroll online at SDU Enroll for EPC. You will need to provide your social security number and your participant identification number.
  • You can enroll by telephone. You may call the SDU at (866) 901-3212, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. You will need to provide your social security number and your participant identification number.

Standard Bank Check

If you do not select one of the options above, the SDU will send the payment to the PRS's current mailing address on record with the Department of Child Support Services.
